Children Ministries

Nursery

There is a nursery available for babies and toddlers during our worship service, located in the back classrooms. Of course, parents are not required to take their children to the nursery; some prefer to keep the little ones with them. The nursery is staffed by a rotating group of parents as their ministry to you.

Sunday Schools — "Journey To Jesus"

Our Sunday school team has worked hard to make this hour one of the most memorable of a child's week. Mt. Hope has a unique Sunday school "rotation model" system: each classroom is decorated and themed in vibrant, Biblical tones, and each week the children attend a different room to do a different activity about the same subject. For example, during a month in which the children study Noah's Ark, they may go to the Cinema room to watch a cartoon or puppet show about it, or bake Ark cookies in the kitchen, or create a craft project in the art room. Children's Sunday school meets at 9:30am during the school year, and is for grades Pre-K through 6.

Acolytes

At many churches, children are asked to be invisible; at Mt. Hope, we want them front and center! Our acolytes are one of the ways we get children involved with the worship service. Every Sunday, two of our acolyte-trained kids will don their robes, and begin and end worship by lighting/extinguishing the candles. Any child of the appropriate height may apply to be an acolyte.

Goofy? Us? No way!

Pioneer Clubs

It's like Boy or Girl Scouts, just with a Biblical theme! Children from pre-school through 5th grade may attend our Pioneer Clubs on Wednesday evenings during the school year, from 6:30 to 7:30pm in the church Fellowship Hall. There, the kids will earn badges by participating in crafts, activities, games and events, all while learning about God.

Vacation Bible School

Our first week in August is always a busy one, as we throw our annual Vacation Bible School for kids up through grade 5. Dozens of children pour into the church during every day that week, participating in all sorts of events and games, which are led by Mt. Hope adult and teen volunteers. VBS is open to any children in the community and their friends!
